Yesterday while we were with my family, I received a couple of things that Grandma wanted me to have. She had decided awhile ago which dishes she wanted to go to everyone. This is what I got:The best part? She wrote my name on the bottom so they knew it was mine. You better believe that tag isn't coming off. In the last couple of years, she had little function in her hands, so this must have been awhile ago that she wrote this.
Here is her Obituary:
Florence L. E age 96 of Hudson died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Christian Community Home, where she was a resident since January. She was born the daughter of Herman and Emma T on December 21, 1911 in Pine City, MN. Florence taught for several years at a country school in Pine City. On October 9, 1937, she married Emmett E. The couple stayed in Pine City and were blessed with five children; Murray, Kaye, Tom, Clay and Joel. In 1955, the family moved to Hudson. Florence was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 53 years. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, sisters, and her husband, Emmett (1984). Florence is survived by her children, Murray E, Kaye (David) M, Tom (Vickie) E, Clay (Janet) E, Joel (Diane) E; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Lauretta T; and many nieces and nephews. Florence’s entire 96 years were solely devoted to the love of her church and her family. Nothing was more important. She was also very creative and loved to sew, knit, bake and braid rugs. She made homemaking an art form long before Martha Stewart. Flowers and the beauty of nature were a constant joy in her life as were her friends. She worked so hard for so many years, always trusting someday God would bring her home. Let God and the angels care for you now, Mom, today heaven has become a much richer place. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 30th at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Rev. Tim Booth officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am Wednesday before the service at the church. Interment will be in Willow River Cemetery with Nathan, Joseph , David, and Luke E, Jason S and Aaron M as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Lois T, Emily S and Sharon S.
